Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

everyone-

my beautiful, wonderful, near-perfect wife accidentally deleted all of her PMs recently, and i seem to recall someone else telling me not long ago that the same thing had happened to them. i feel compelled to caution you to take care when dealing with the PMs you have "stored" in your inbox because once they are deleted from the database, they are gone forever (no saving-grace trashcan feature here).

that said, i want to point out that, for the next 3 days or so, i still have access to the forum database as it existed just prior to the move to the new datacenter in Houston, and i am capable of retrieving PMs that you sent or received up to that point (assuming they had not been already deleted by yourself or the person you sent one to).

if you would like me to look for a particular message that you sent or received on or before Aug. 4 at 8:37pm CST, send me a PM and i will see if it is there.

-Tim

i'm such a dork. i just deleted all of the PMs in my inbox because i clicked on the Delete All button and then clicked on OK to confirm...all the while thinking that i was deleting just 1 message.

in the interest of protecting the rest of you from making the same mistake that my wife and i have now BOTH made, i have added an extra confirmation step in there. i think it will be a minor inconvenience for someone in the rare event that they actually WANT to delete all of their PMs at once.

ugh-

Ouch.

Thanks for making the change. It's just the sort of thing that I'd do.

Since the "someone else" was me, I have to sincerely say Thank you. Having the buttons right next to each other makes it easy to make this mistake. Plus that little tiny button on the top that says "select all" is easy to accidentally hit.

Thanks, Tim. I'm glad even computer guys make mistakes!

Note that the extra layer of safety only applies to the "Delete All" button. If you accidentally "select all" and then click "Delete Selected" -- you just get one warning, to the effect of, "Delete the selected message(s)?"

Do you think it would help to not have the delete all button highlighted? I nearly did the same thing tonight because I automatically went to the highlighted choice. Just a thought.

Hmmm, just looked at it again. Maybe it just looks highlighted to me.
