Yes, I want to discuss! Count me in. Haven't started reading yet. We all need to be prepared because when those with different agendas try to use it to their advantage by taking it out of context - selecting only what helps their cause - we need to know the totality. I am seeing very good summaries about what he says against population control and extreme environmentalism. It is the ecology of the person and sounds like that aspect is wonderful, but won't be what the media and other fixate on.
There is climate change. It exists. Whether it is human caused, to what degree it is happening and the effects for future, what the response should be, etc...all questions for discussion.

Very true, but not sure how to correct this, other than a) avoiding those products grown using these methods and b) patronizing the farmers in my area that stay away from those for the most part, i.e., by using natural pest/weed/insect control via beneficial insects).
There's always some kind of anti-GMO anti-pesticide mfr petition going on somewhere but I don't know if that's the answer or if those things are doing any good.

Again, so true. But what do we do that would actually make a difference in our neighborhoods? Our neighborhood is probably 97% manicured lawns and landscaping. I don't use chemicals and have lots of trees so can't grow much because of too much shade, but I still worry about runoff. Can't very well tell the neighbors to stop hiring people to spray their lawns. Can't move either, we don't have the $$$ and won't be practical with hubby's job.
I have friends who have opted to homestead, but what about the rest of us who can't do this?
And what about in places where people don't really have a choice but stay where they are and be exposed to what the businesses/manufacturers around them use?

This is the heart of cultural transformation to me [#22]:

God pronounced all His creation as "good" and yet we have mounds of useless accumulation. Yes, we have a hierarchy of worth, but nothing is worthless.
This impacts what we use, how we use it, and how we dispose of--or rather reuse--it. That, indeed, is a fundamental change in how we interact with our environment and each other.
