Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi Ladies,

Soon, we'll be sending away for some praying mantiseseseses(manti?).

I remember a thread, I did a search but didn't find it, where MacBeth mentioned something about a big praying mantis eating the baby praying mantis??? Can someone enlighten me? Full wattage, please .

Btw, today we were at the park and my dd, Sophia noticed a baby praying mantis walking on a wooden bench. It was almost transparent...and maybe 3/4 of an inch long...it was very .

They will eat many things, including taco meat (Alice has the details) and, yes, each other.

LOL! MacBeth--and with sour cream no less.

My girls are huge Mantis fans and kept three in captivity last year. When they first hatch, I'm told the babies will start eating each other if they are in the same container, although, luckily, we have not seen this! (This prospect has been a source of consternation for us, because we are still waiting for two egg cases, left in our tanks by two of last season's mantises, to come to life.)

The girls usually fed their mantises crickets, actually allowing them to hunt down our basement each day (what a great housekeeper I am!), but we've seen them eat taco meat, huge pieces of steak, and even a raisin! At first, the girls needed to wave the pieces of meat in front of the mantises to get them to strike, but, after a while, Agnes' would splay its legs and bend down to eat the meat like a dog!

They are such beautiful and interesting creatures. Have fun with them!
