Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I was researching for rock/geology study in preparation for a book I am expecting, and found what seems like a great resource for upper elementary activities.
American Geoscience Institute Activitity: Fossils

Of course, its written for teachers in a classroom so everything is in lesson plan format, but I'm sure it could be a great resource to make sure all aspects of a topic are introduced or that the teacher could go through some of it to increase her knowledge before reading a living book/pursuing rabbit trails. On the fossil unit, they link to this resource for ordering fossils :

Fossil kits

It looks fairly affordable for Kit 1.

If anyone has used this and can comment, let me know. If not, hopefully its helpful to someone. I'm hoping to use it along with our BFSU rock discussion and Herman Schneider's Rocks Rivers And The Changing Earth which is hopefully coming soon from Abebooks.

Melinda, I never did. We have kept ours informal but I might use it in the future. The book I am having him read is Rocks, Rivers, and the changing Earth.
