Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Do we get to start guessing yet?

So do we???

The brother of a good friend of mine is in McMurdo Station, Antarctica right now and we've been following his blog off and on during the last few months. I'm posting a link to an entry in mid-December where he talks about his experience with the Antarctic sun. The first 2 numbered points (and asterisk to footnote) are of interest to us here. Some clues, maybe.

MaryM --

how cool is that to be down under (way under) during this time of year? What a boot -- I'm trying to get my kids to visualize this -- using a dark room, basketball and a flashlight. This blog will help us immensely.

THANKS for posting.

Whoa....here's a quote:
Down here the sun is North at noon; the weird part is that it moves from my right [still East, though] to my left. Another way to look at it - - if the sun moves clockwise to you, it moves anti-clockwise to me.

This is pretty hard to visualize. It's hard to imagine while in Antarctica facing any direction that isn't north kwim?
