Ok, I stumbled across Steve Spangler Science.
WOW! It's been a springboard for ALL SORTS of science fun and experimenting. Check out all the videos there...you can re-create a lot of them at home (trust me, we've re-created A LOT in the past 2 weeks). I HAD to share with everyone 
A word of warning, though, their shop has some fun science items

My dc...especially my dss looove this! We give out science toys for presents all of the time. They have been following the videos and experiments of Steve Spangler for years. I am sooo happy he shares his enthusiasm. There is something about a male teaching and being excited about learning. It has a powerful affect on the young men here!

That's an awesome resource! I've been neglecting science, but we'll have to try some of those experiments, my kids have already watched a few of the videos.

It has certainly saved my very weak science curriculum (or lack thereof) and the entire house is excited about science. The videos are addicting for me and the kids  . The kids are calling for a weekly science experiment day!

We really enjoy Steve Spangler, here, too. Since he is local, we knew of him before he was "famous." I'd seen him do demos a couple times. Most recently we had the opportunity to be part of a Guinness World Record for largest science lecture and demo that he conducted with our local Major League Baseball team.
You should watch for his science experiment compilations for specific holidays - he usually puts those up right before holidays, but you can search by holiday name to find them. I've posted links here before for Halloween and St. Patrick's Day-themed experiments he has posted. He has other holiday-themed ones as well. I see he has a couple for Thanksgiving, we'll have to give a try when the time comes.

Lucky you He's a regular celebrity at our house. My kids would rather meet him than any of the "popular" celebrities or sports stars

Wow, I just came over here to ask about a chemistry kit for my ds and found this thread. This is great! My ds is only 6 but is begging for a chemistry set. He's too young for most of them, and I don't want him doing anything dangerous. Any suggestions from this site?

Well, there's an Instant Science Lab, Jumbo Test Tube Experiments, More Test Tube Experiments, and Soda Bottle Science that all look good I'm waiting on All were ages 4 and up I think. Go to the "Spangler Created" tab on the right hand side under "Shop By Collection." I'm sure you'll find more than enough

Bumping this thread for Steve Spangler fans. Since the time when this thread was active, Steve has published two science experiment books. They are really cool. Very visual - almost like the demos on his site. Very clear directions to do the demos and experiments. Unique and dramatic experiments. Highly recommended.

And you can look for me in a photo - I am in one of the photos in the Fire Bubbles book. We had seats way up front and in one of the crowd shots you can see my head...if you look REAL close...
