Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Just a reminder that the Journey North Mystery Class will be beginning January 28th. If you aren't register, do so now and find out how to prepare too.

This was so much fun last year. We worked with a friend and divided the classes...we each took 5 to record. We both got our sets right...very exciting! Great for Geography and I found it was a great way to teach my dd some good internet research skills...Google is our friend (usually )

I just wanted to bump this topic and add my excitement for it.

Here is a great activity to get you through all these long indoor winter days. Journey North (home page)is an interactive nature study and a mystery game. It teaches Science, Nature study, and geography. The mystery unfolds by figuring out specific locations using the times for sunrise and sunset. I am so excited about using this. I just had to share

For anyone new (after 2007), we did it as a group here on 4 Real for several years, 2006 and 2007. Lissa coordinated it, each family had only one location to track which keeps it really manageable if you are worried about time. If someone were willing to coordinate and there is enough interest, that could be an option again. All the results and questions and guesses were compiled in running threads here in this forum. To see the old threads and get an idea of how it went you can look through old threads.

This year Gwen and I are going to do a local one here with our support group - each family taking a different mystery location. Then we will meet at the end of the study and have a cultural dinner based on the cuisine/traditions of the locations that are disclosed.

We'll be doing this. Anyone else? We just set up a little space devoted to our Journey North projects.

We have started as well - as I mentioned we are doing it with a group of local homeschoolers - each taking one location.
