Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We have always known something was a little "off" with my 9 year old son. Well, he has been diagnosed with sensory processing disorder. Right now I just need someone to tell me I can do this. I don't really know where to begin...it is even a struggle to find therapists because we are out in a very rural county without any services. Everywhere will be a trek. My own anxiety/and depression is showing its winter self, and with this on top of it...I am very worried. Prayers please.

Jonnn, praying with empathy! Have you tried Magnesium to help your anxiety/depression. Maybe you can research it a bit. My dh has found it has helped him immensely this year. We first found out about his need for it through researching anxiety he was having related to another issue, but it has been the first winter he has not had depression really bad. He takes magnesium, and takes Epsom Salt baths on days where he's getting anxious. It has really been a huge difference.

In his research about it he also came across info that said something like 80% or more people are deficient on magnesium, and how over 300 functions of the body are affected by it. Also, many conditions are misdiagnosed by a person really having a deficiency in magnesium. It is even supposed to be a big help with ADD/ADHD. I'm not saying it's a miracle cure, but it has been a BIG help in our household these last months. Oh, and he found recently that when one has a stressful day, you use huge amounts of magnesium and have to up how much you take. He had been making huge progress, no anxiety, all symptoms gone, then he got a cold and went to the dentist within a couple of days of each other. The day after the dentist he was really down, back to anxiety/depression starting which confused us, why all of a sudden the setback after he had been doing so great. When he looked it up and found out about stress using huge amounts of the magnesium it made sense. He upped his dosage according to what he found, and he's been good again.

We've also read how important it is to to take a certain balance of calcium and magnesium at the same time, as they work intertwined, so you may look into that.

I hope this info may help you!

With your son, you are right, You CAN do this! I know it is so hard to deal with a new diagnosis, especially when you are struggling with your own health. Our oldest is my hard one to help through things, and lately when I feel so ill with 1st Trimester it is really hard at times. But, the great and most consoling thing is we have recourse to prayer, grace, the Sacraments to help us! God gave us the awesome gift of the Sacrament of Marriage to give us the grace to deal with these family/parenting things. How amazing is that? In other "day-to-day" life issues one faces we don't have a specific sacrament made right for them, but in our marriage, family life, parenting, God has given us this amazing gift of grace to help us through, hold us up, give us the help we need.

Pray, Hope, Trust! Our Lord and Our Lady will help you through this! It doesn't have to all be fixed in one day, remember baby steps, one day at a time. Maybe pray to St. Anthony to help you find the care for your son you need. He helps so much, and is known to work miracles. Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, we pray that you will intercede for Joann and her family in this matter that they will easily find affordable and perfect help for their precious son, to help him through this meed.

Praying for all your needs.

Many prayers! My DS is also a little "off" as well. Big hugs, you can do this. I'm echoing Pilgrim's wonderful advice above.

Prayers Joann,
Have you looked at Dianne Craft's web site? She has supplement recommendations and brain integration therapy exercises that you can do at home to help him.

I also second Dianne Craft, we used her brain integration therapy book with our oldest. She didn't like it at first, but it did help with her needs.
