ACK!!!!
I have had a Nanny with me since July due to my two hip surgeries. She is a very devoted, wonderful Christian and we have had many wonderful conversations about faith and life. I just adore her.
She has mentioned a few things her and there about Catholic stuff and I have tried to answer it the most Biblically and honestly at possible. But mostly we have talked about things that we generally agree with. I have prayed for her conversion---as she and her fiancé plan on being Missionaries (which often try to convert Catholics in 3rd world countries)!!!!!!!
She has been looking at my businesses Pinterest board and was questioning my three Sacred Heart board, which is the hearts of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. It was a very difficult conversation. I have read so many apologetics but it's just not in me to quote precisely and biblically all of the Catholic reasons and understandings----especially in a convincing manor.
She quoted the tried and true Protestant stuff of the Bible says we only need to go to Jesus, and that there is no reference to Saints and especially MARY in the Bible, and that all our questions should be very clear in the Bible (i.e. Mary is NOT clearly explained  ).
I feel like I answered things fairly well, although I know she wasn't convinced. But when she said that the doctrine for Mary wasn't in the Bible...I didn't get a bit defensive and say that it is. The Protestants have just chosen not to see that Mary as a part of Salvation History starting with the versus read in Mass on Monday (Feast of the Immaculate Conception) all the way through to the Crucifixion. I am NOT a good apologist, I loose my tempter to quick and can't quote things verbatim. I didn't feel overly great about my responses--I do study to be able to answer these questions but I just don't feel like I did a good job. Although, I am glad that I didn't back down, which I think she was a little stymied that I at least had an answer (which she didn't believe) to her questions.
Anyway....long winded....if you think of it please offer up a prayer for her conversion (Lindy). And, if it's God's Will, that I can give her the arguments and information that she might need to at least question things.

Will do. I, too, find is hard to think of the right thing to say in the moment.
I really like the Catholic for a Reason II book (all on Marian doctrine) to be beautifully written and helpful for explanation.

All saint means is "holy" - kind of hard to argue that the Bible doesn't call us to holiness and specifically label some as holy - like Mary.

Praying for Lindy, and for you as well. For me, it is easy to relate to the hearts of Jesus, Mary and Joseph being united in holiness, by comparing them to the hearts of all human families. There is a bond and connection between family members that transcends our human understanding. The sacredness of the heart connection between Jesus, Mary and Joseph surely surpasses anything we could ever know, understand or experience. Jesus chose to be born of Mary and submitted to being the foster Son of Joseph, raising their hearts, and those of all mothers and families to even higher dignity, in His Act of Redemption. The Church in her infinite wisdom knows that scripture alone cannot possibly contain or convey all of the sacred truths and mysteries contained in Redemption, just as St. John tells us in John 21:25 "But there are also many other things that Jesus did: were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written." Some of which are written in our own hearts, as part of faith! May the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Just Heart of Joseph fill all hearts with truth, wonder and awe at the Sacred Mysteries of Faith!

Thanks Mary and Servant!
I am trying to discern if I should go on the offensive (so to speak) with questions like:
If the Bible is so clear why to Protestants contradict their self on almost everything (abortion, gay marriage, contraception, divorce, once saved always saved, amount of literary, need to go to church or not, etc)
And, bringing up the point that the Catholic's put together the books of the Bible and not until the year 300.....
