Hi Friends,

We have a big day tomorrow.....they are using a laser to remove scar tissue around Lily’s trach stoma site, which is probably what has been causing her not to tolerate her trach being capped. So, once we get the scar tissue out, she should sail through tolerating her trach being capped, forcing her to breath without the help of her trach cannula. Once she can tolerate capping during waking hours, for three weeks....she will be put in ICU, they’ll take her trach out, and we might just go home WITHOUT a TRACH a few days later.

Can I even dare to hope Lily might have her trach out by Christmas??

One day at a time.....God’s Will be done.....and thanks for your prayers! I’ll update tomorrow afternoon, her surgery is probably about 1 1/2 hours, and she’ll go home afterwards....if she behaves.

Also, we started speech therapy again, and today’s first appt. went so well. She tried to say “humming bird”. Oh....it was so, so cute!!! Lily is now wearing something called a “passey muir valve” that helps her talk....and boy, is she talking!!! My little vowel talker is beginning to sneak a few consonants in now. I just love that girl.

So, Lily is out of surgery, did great, no scar tissue!!! The doctor said to push the capping, her airway is great, and hopefully she will be in soon to get her trach out.
