Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hello ladies, we've had some fun already this week with some new presentations!

I introduced the Brown Stair and it went very well. I was especially pleased with how ds 5 was careful to carry the prisms with a two hand grasp and set them down without trying to make any sound

This morning I re-presented the Decimal Work with the Golden Beads. He worked for at least twenty minutes and I heard him counting slowly and carefully. Then I showed him the Spindle Box and he LOVED it! He also worked with it for quite a while. Then he went and got the Brown Stair and worked with it once through.

The 2 yo showed his sissy how he can do the Pink Tower, still working on care of pieces and properly finishing it without getting distracted by himself

He spotted the Sandpaper Numbers so I showed him #'s 0-3 before he hopped down for something different, playing school with sissy !

ETA: I forgot, I also presented the SandPaper Landforms Cards and first period of the Landforms nomenclatures to my 5 yo. They were a BIG hit! Geography is going to be SO cool this year

We're off and running a bit...how's you're week shaping up so far?

We hope to get started next week if all goes well here. I set up shelves for our trays/baskets, and I'm in the process of deciding what to put out first. I've got a list of things that I want to have made, so some things will have to wait until they're ready.

I presented the spindle box on Monday. Dd really loved it and is fascinated by the zero slot. Ds had little interest in it. I also presented the lower case sand paper letters to dd, who is enjoying them. I think the red sparkly letters really appeal to her. Ds was off with dh (home from China at last), so he wasn't around. He'll see them another day.

We're doing a bit of insect study with my 6yo, so I introduced nomenclature & definitions cards for insects yesterday.

Today we added to this, but classifying insects into orders. We used one of the DK Definitive Visual Guides (Animal) as our reference, and I wrote the names on the cards in front of her. Normally I would have had these pre-made, but I didn't , however it worked out very well in the end, because she wanted to make another set herself and ended up writing them all out!

I also introduced 3 part cards with Impressionist Paintings (6 paintings for each of Monet, Cassatt, Renoir and Degas). I just made these and these have turned out quite beautiful. She enjoyed these because she recognised some of the paintings from a book we've been reading "Katie Meets the Impressionists" (definitely recommend this, plus others in the series).

My 3yo also did some these cards too.
