I'm working on my son's reading list (grade 11) and thought I'd ask the experts to weigh in.

This would be non-U.S. literature, which I am saving for next year. We plan to study Lepanto and Hamlet for sure.

Nonfiction is OK, but I'm looking for a good balance of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry/drama.

Also, I haven't read The Count of Monte Cristo since high school and can't recall the details. (The Richard Chamberlain dramatization leaps to mind when I think about this novel.) Do you think this would be a suitable book for a high schooler to read?

I linked to a whole lot of teenage booklists here some were the US many were not.

ETA: I remember reading the Count of Monte Cristo in grade 10 or 11. I LOVED that book. Haven't read it as an adult though.
