Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Please pray for the family and daughter of my dear friend Monica.

Her five year old, Lydia, has been battling AML, a childhood form of leukemia since August. They had hoped to start a bone marrow transplant next week, but just found out Lydia relapsed. She is now fighting an uphill battle and doctors have even approached them to discuss a hospice plan if this new protocol is not successful.

They need us all to storm heaven.

I can't even begin to imagine what they are facing.

Update #1
Lydia started her treatment last night. So far, no horrible adverse effects, but they are worried about potential cardiac and respiratory impact because the of the strength of the treatment.

She will continue this level of high treatment for four more days so please continue to pray that beating up her poor little body is taking will also put her back in remission so that they can try to go forward with a bone marrow transplant!

Lydia is adopted from China, and through a miracle they actually found her birth family and are hoping to be able to bring over a biological sister for a transplant. That is a whole other story that needs prayers.....

Update #2
Unfortunately, I do not have good news to share. They found out Lydia is not in remission after this latest round of chemo. They were hoping she would be in remission so that they could go forward with the transplant.

Her cancer continued to grow. The doctors do not feel that further chemo will have an impact. The family is now planning for palliative care. They are told they believe Lydia has a few weeks to a month to live.

Please keep this wonderful family in your prayers for the very tough times facing them.

I'm storming heaven for sweet Lydia and for the supernatural strength her family will no doubt need to draw from over the coming days and months. It's too much for me to even imagine. God be with them.
