Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I recently found Say Hola to Spanish
at the library, and my dc have really enjoyed it.

It is written in rhyme, with only a few Spanish words per page and very bright, colorful pictures. There is a pronunciation key in the back.

This has been a great addition to our Spanish studies. All we have done is read the book once each day (a la Five in a Row-style), and I am amazed how many new Spanish words the kids have picked up. They like the rhyme and the pictures, and learning this way absolutely blows flash cards away.

We have been reading this one book each day for about three weeks now, and the kids do not get tired of it. Instead, I think they enjoy it more each time as they have learned the words. There are two more books in this style from the same author: Say Hola to Spanish, Again, and Say Hola to Spanish at the Circus.

I have looked at other picture books to supplement our studies but found them to be crammed with words on each page and somewhat overwhelming. Then I remembered reading about a Chinese skater who learned English using children's books, so I renewed my search and found these.

I am curious to hear if anyone else has favorite picture books to help learn foreign languages?
