Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Pope John Paul for kids

Pflaum has a section of things you can do to use with your kids for school and for this time of History in the Making. We are going to use some of the map activities, and other things there this week.

Also, I found a very neat article on www.catholic.com for with a past article from The Rock magazine. The article is titled The Next Conclave We will also use this sometime this week in our History in the Making sessions (Current Events and Church History).

Hope these help!
Tracy

Jeanne,

Do you have a prayer service already done up? I will be doing a prayer service tomorrow night (Tuesday) with our Youth Group. Any ideas?

Jeanne and all,

I just spent a few hours online and found tons of stuff - all from the websites listed here in "A Living Faith" and "We Pray To The Lord" (I think???).

Pflaumhad great printouts, including prayer services for 3 different levels.

The song, John Paul II, is beautiful!!!! A free download and words are available at Lily4Life

There is so much more!!! Thanks to all who listed sites!

Someone on another list was asking for resources to use for studying the life of our beloved Pope John Paul II. I was researching, and came up with some more neat resources to use for our section on Pope John Paul II, electing a new Pope, and on this very incredible time in history to which we're all now a part of. I don't have time to put them all in links (I'm sorry), but I thought I'd list them here, so that in case they may help someone, you'd at least have the information.

You may be able to copy the list, and paste it into an email that you email to yourself, then they may become hyperlinks at that time, and you'd have saved them for yourself as well. Not sure if that will work or not, but just a thought.
Hope this helps!
Tracy

We had our prayer service for our Holy Father today. We used the info from pflaum. It was so inspiring we have decided to study his life

Today we mapped some of the countries he visited, read a short bio, and colored his coat of arms. The kids were so excited and want to know more. Tomorrow we are going to start creating a timeline of his life.

There is so much we can do, look at his writings, plays, poetry, not to mention the history his life effected.

On Friday I want to go to our Cathedral to say the stations of the cross, just as our pope did every Friday and take a picture of the kids infront of the church drapped in the black bunting.

Thank you to all for the great links, I just listened to the song-beautiful Thanks Erica! I looking forward to reading others ideas.

I know the graces will be flowing in the death of this great, holy and good man.

Peace of our Lord to all!

For a chuckle, in the midst of our mourning:

We spent quite a bit of time earlier today a the Pflaum site reading about the process of electing a new pope. Afterward we were in the van on our way to Little Flowers and I sort of quizzed the girls on what they remembered from what we had read. My 6yo, who has the goofiest sense of humor of all of us, said with a slight smile, "Mommy, why do they go through all that anyway? Why don't they just do eenie, meenie, miney, moe?"

You should email that into EWTN. I think that's hysterical! Thanks for the much needed laugh today!
