Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Finally I feel I have found the perfect fit of core Faith materials, for my older teens, but I am still searching for materials for my ds13.

What do you use with children of this age? I feel he is at that in between stage and being a boy it is a little different again. Love to hear of ideas

Not sure what you are after Erin for your ds13, but We will use Story of the Church as our core next year for dd who is 13 next year.
I use the recommendations of Mater Amabilis.
They have been a good fit so far.

For my son I used the Prove It! books by Amy Welborn at that age.

I ordered the first on the Didache semester series for my 13 yos: The Trinity and Our Christian Vocation. I haven't received yet, so I can't tell you much about it until I do.

Jenn

These are some great books! but they would be too hard for Xavier at this stage Love the list though

Natalia

I didn't know Didache has semester series. Is this different to their complete courses?

Jen

I think your daughter must be so much more switched on than Xavier, I tried him with The Faith Explained by Fr Leo Trese, he liked it but didn't retain anything, told me it was too hard to narrate.

I gave him Fr Laux's Chief Truth's of the Faith to look at and he found it too much.

Xavier is only just 13 but in Grade 7, I think maybe our grading may be different?

I have a couple of those saint books and I'm sure he would be fine with them. Mm some of the other books on your list may work. Thanks

Erin, I have a 12 yo son, and looking at some of the books listed here, there is NO WAY he would be ready for a lot of that.....He is still so immature, and really struggles with dyslexia and some learning issues, so a lot of these titles would be quite frustrating for him. I know this, because several of those titles my older teens have used, and loved....but every child is different. For my guy, I would read the “Prove It” series by Amy Welborn as well. In fact, I am off to dig those out!! I love her straightforward approach, she is easy to understand without “dumbing down” the material. Others might think differently, but for us, this series was the impetus for several good conversations and I really liked them.
