Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I love MaryM's centerpiece of the Marian apparitions hanging on the Mary tree.

I think I'll do a version of that with the Illuminated Ink Marian Apparitions cards and place our Mary Tree in a large white bowl we have. I think we'll fill the bowl with oranges and perhaps I'll let the kids work on a craft project painting shimmery wooden stars (I'll pick up the star shapes from Michael's) to place between and around the oranges in the bowl (to tie in with the Feast of Our Lady of Altagracia and the stars Quisqueya tried to catch in his blanket as they fell to the ground).

Thanks for reviving this thread, Suzanne.

I just got this candleholder for Christmas. It sits on our kitchen table. I bought some liturgically coloured candles (green, purple, white, and blue for Marian feastdays) and I'm hoping to change candles in this centerpiece according to the liturgical season, as a simple, no fuss way to mirror the liturgical colours in our home. As an added benefit, we dim the lights and light the candle at dinnertime, and it has created a much calmer mealtime for us. We always seem to go through advent-wreath-lighting-withdrawal symptoms at this time of the year, and I thought this might make the transition into ordinary time easier for my little ones!

I'm dying to see your candleholder Mary and I think your idea of using candles corresponding with the liturgical colors is great!....but this link goes to Canadian tire!

It is funny when you think about it, but it actually DID come from Canadian Tire !

It's the Debbie Travis hurricane vase...
Does the link work for you? It works for me, but maybe it's cause I'm Canadian !

Now I'm really curious - a candleholder from Canadian Tire!

My link takes me a prompt box that asks for a postal code, but there is no link to your very intriguing candleholder!

We have a round, rather flat/low bowl filled with pine cones and silver Christmas ball ornaments, with a white candle in the middle.

I found it! It's really beautiful - I really had no idea that Canadian Tire made things other than....tires.

Does this link work? Is this it, Mary?

Yes! That's the one!

And, you know, I've only recently re-discovered Canadian Tire myself...lots of nice stuff there! Thanks for the laughs, !

I have a clear glass hurricane vase thing, with a white pillar candle in the middle, surrounded/on a melange of aurora borealis, light blue, and bright blue glass "rocks". I'm planning on getting a bigger pillar for next year, and make a glitter candle (glue, glitter...easy to do lol) for the center.

I've got a blue and white felt "polar bear" runner underneath the hurricane, but on top of a white "snowflake" tablecloth (white, with a gauzey border, with snowflakes stitched on in sparkly thread).

So basically, it's the tablecloth, the runner, and then the hurricane. I've also got two smaller "let it snow" candleholders, one on either side of the hurricane.

So far, so good. The boys are walking...so we'll see how long it lasts...LOL

I still need to get my garlands put up--white AB berry garland on wire, with some white icicle lights wrapped around it, and various sized snowflakes hanging off of it. It looks really sparkly in the windows, and hanging over the edges of the bookshelves...

Anyway...

Rachel

Here is a look at the cool centerpiece Gwen (momwise) has on her table. We joined them tonight for dinner to celebrate the feast of the conversion of St. Paul.

On the pedestal is a second class relic of St. Paul that is visiting Gwen's house this week courtesy of a friend. On the cloth is a trail of stones representing the road to Damascus and a horse votive nearby - horses often being shown in the depictions of Paul's conversion.

I thought it was such an eye-catching and symbolic centerpiece.

Thank you Mary!! I have loved seeing all the suggestions here.

That blue cloth is part of a bag full of old hankerchiefs my mother in law saved from her child and young adulthood. Our Mary altar has a beautiful white one with red flowers and green accents. I keep them in the kitchen cabinet and pull them out for things like this; usually at the last minute which was when I received the inspiration for this centerpiece
