Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Here is something new we started last year. We give the kids some small prasents until the feast of the Epiphany.

Here is a link to my post.

Gifts for the 12 Days of Christmas

God bless.

That is a lovely tradition Ruth...I'm going to print it up and file it for next year.

Someone had suggested earlier here or a blog the idea of gift giving in a small way through the season..I had never heard of it before but it sounded wonderful.

I bought alot of Catholic Mosaic books and others in October and had squirreled them away for later and so I decided to give them one a day through the 12 days of Christmas, so that the children wake up to a new book each day - I had 8 to give and then this year I had two relatives say they couldn't think what to buy our children so they would give money - with that I am building up their HB 3book volume set (7volumes) of Tintin and so two more will be bought and added...my mother has yet to give her gift of a complete secondhand set of the Boxcar Children, so I think half a set for the 11th day and half for the 12th and it will be a very bookish 12 days of Christmas! I don't imagine we can do that every year but it has worked out well to do it this way this time which has been exciting for the children so far.

We are going to do this for our neighbor. The day isn't over yet!    They gave my children so many gifts (it took six adults carrying bags full of toys to get everything in the house) that I want a way to say Thank you.   Hopefully, this will bring a smile to their face.

We also do this only not always with gifts but also with family activities.

One day they will unwrap a Christmas movie that we haven't watched yet, another day will be family skating at the rink, etc...

It is fun to have something to look forward to all 12 days!

I love the idea of giving a book for every of the 12 days. I will try that next year. Thank you so much for that.

God bless.
