Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I know this is a good thing but I can't help but say I'm feeling tried and tired.

I won't bore you with all the details but I'm here to humbly ask for prayers again.

This has been a particularly bad week for me so I'm looking VERY forward to confession this weekend.

I don't want to bad-mouth anyone but I will ask for specific prayers this weekend. We're scheduled to see some extremely difficult and unsupportive family members this weekend at the annual Cancer Survivor's Christmas party that we go to. I've tried talking to dh to not go but there is a legitimate excuse to go - my dh's grandmother is on her death bed and he'd like to see her before she dies and she is being cared for near where the party is being held. If it were for any other reason, I'd decline going, but since it's for that, I will go. So please, pray for me. I know your prayers will be very efficacious.

Thank you in advance.

I'm praying, Maria. And, I'm hoping to post at Fireside chat, a request for input on dealing with this type of difficulty. So many are dealing with "difficult and unsupportive family members" and don't want to "bad-mouth" but want to feel that there are saintly ways to work through these situations. Praying, and having others pray is obviously the first and best step .

Hang in there, friend. Love,

Praying, Maria.

St. Rita had a couple of very unsupportive family members; I'll ask her to intercede for you, too.

You have our prayers each and everyday. I know how uneasy and upsetting this type of situation can be. This is why I think you husband is such a gentleman..he will put up with this to see his Grandmother. What a wonderful man!

Prayers and love,

Mb

Thanks everybody.

I knew that part of my stress was complete and total fatigue.

Steve came home last night and was supposed to leave today. I asked him to see if he could change his schedule because I felt pushed to the edge.

He did and we had a lovely day. I'm still really tired and my muscles are starting to relax. This single-parenting stuff is harder than I realized as I only saw it from the kids side when my dad left...and Steve and I are totally committed to each other still - the absences, the transition to trucking, the financial stress if he doesn't drive due to mechanical problems not to mention the day-to-day stresses, I feel hit from all sides, more so than ever...

Anyway, I'm hoping for more relief. In the meantime, we heard about a job with UPS that would be a much better fit for our family.

We must sound crazy with all of the job stresses but I console myself with the fact that we are trying. I was thinking about everything yesterday - we've been dealing with lay-offs since when we were first married and we'll be hitting 11 years in February. No wonder I'm tired.

I must say though, that despite our hardships, we have not ever not had enough to eat and not suffered the discomfort of no air and no heat. Perhaps I should say, "We've always had air, we've always had heat, and we've always had enough to eat." I think these trials have taught us to live day-to-day and to keep things simple. It's not about the house, it's not about the material possesions. It's about LOVE, relationships and doing your best with His grace.

Angie, I look forward to your thread that you began. I know part of my problem was not being grateful for the trials. So, just in case you had any doubts, it should be clear, I'm no saint....but that's what we're working on and obviously, these are gifts....every single one of them. We're told to "Give thanks in all things!"

I want to write about this over at my blog but I haven't yet - but I want us to be affirmed and I want others to be. Mother Teresa was right - and I'm paraphrasing here when I say that she said that the greatest poverty was here in the States....I hear so many negatives and I get overwhelmed by them because the negatives outweigh the positives. And despite KNOWING the positives, I yearn to hear them...to be lifted up. I know part of the problem is my family of origin and my dh's family of origin and part of it is living in CA.

So thanks for letting me vent. I'm off to shower and rest.

I'm so glad Steve was able to get a day to just "be" with all of you. I don't blame you for being tired. I was thinking we will be married 10 years and April and am hoping years 10-20 are a bit easier!

That said.

Please vent..we are all willing to lift you up in prayer since you always lift so many of us. You are constantly a bright spot on this forum.

You are a blessing.

Love and prayers,

Mb
