I'm beginning homeschooling my 3 1/2 year old in January (I'm so excited) and I'm trying to decide on some materials to help me during the 1 to 2 hours I'll have with him each day. I'll certainly be doing simple Montessori activities, but I also wanted to go with either the Little Saints program (http://www.catholicpreschool.com/) or the Before Five in a Row book (http://www.fiveinarow.com/before/).
Does anybody have any opinions on either of these materials? Or can anybody offer any other advice for beginning homeschooling on the right track?

I am finding FIAR way better than Little Saints, but it has been at least 5 years since we've done Little Saints. I'm just really liking FIAR right now.

I didn't like Little Saints as well either, but it has been years too since I looked at LS. I thought that it was too time intensive, much more than FIAR.

I do FIAR and Little Saints- meaning I have the Little Saints Book and leaf through it all the time for ideas for poems, finger play, Bible verses, crafts etc. I don't follow it lesson by lesson- I just incorporate what I think will work for my kids. It has been a great, low pressure resource for me this way.

I also use FIAR, but at my kid's ages, I find that they are not really ready yet for some of the more intense activities in FIAR. So again, I use what works for us for each lesson.

I'm doing well with combining the two.

We did little saints, and I just didn't like it at all. Sorry, it was just way to much work for the mom, and it was hard to find alot of the books at the library. I have never tried five in a row.
I am so picky I am just looking at diffrent curriculims online now and taking what I like from everything.lol

I love the book lists in Little Saints. I like to sit at the online catalog and request as many as I can from one unit at a time.
