Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We've done parts of volume 1. I used some other French books for most of our year, but I notice now that retention is much higher with Sotw than with the other books I used.

This year, we're doing volume 2, but I plan on ditching it when we reach the 'guerre de religion' (religious wars ? aka Reformation).

Which is kind of ironic because my ancestors left France because they were Lutherian. As soon as they reached Nouvelle France, the first generation to be born here went back to Catholicism. Oh well .

We are using volume 1 here. I like it well enough. My daughter(6) enjoys the chapters, but they aren't as complete or engaging as I'd like. I would recommend any of the additional reading resources she lists. I'm not satisfied enough to stop looking for something else.

I have found this too. My 8yods took note of our Holy Father's trip last week, with a stop at the Hagia Sophia. He remembered all we read about Justinian, the Byzantine's and the building of this incredible church!

God Bless,

A friend of mine told me about this site - RC History

I haven't looked into it much. We are using Tapestry of Grace this year for Ancients. Next year (as we get closer to the Reformation), I'll consider this program.
