Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I was wondering if anyone would like to share how/if they are using Mosaic in a parish setting.

We don't have a teacher for the pre-K/k group this year, so what I have been doing is leaving one of the Mosaic books and a little activity in the basement where all the parents gather during CCD time. One of the moms picks it up and does the activity with whatever kids are ready and waiting.

We have had to adapt a few of the activities for the younger age group. Here is what we did for St. Tekla and the Lion (which we read the last Sunday of October). The mom showed them the cover and talked about the story taking place in Ethiopia in Africa. She showed them a map with our state marked on North Amer and Ethiopia colored on Africa. She then read the story and talked about the crosses pictured there, comparing them to our crucifix. I took the image of the Ethiopian cross that is drawn in Catholic Mosaic and blew it up so it filled an 8-1/2 X 11 sheet and had the children color it. They loved the story - the pictures in that book are wonderful.

We will be using some of the books for our First Communion class.

Anyone else using Mosaic in a parish?
