My midwife suggests a belly support to help keep this baby in the right position and to alleviate some back pain. Has anyone bought one of these? Did it help? Is it worth the money? Can you recommend a brand/model?

It has been a while, and I don't recall the name of the support I bought, but, oh did it help! It was just a long (long enough to go around on the bottom of my big belly,) and not terribly wide (about 8 inches or so.) Kind of a stretchy material, which velcrod in the back. It felt like such a relief.
I ended up passing it on to a friend.
Hope this is helpful!
God Bless,

YES, YES, and YES! I bought some regular belly support and it didn't help. I was going to a PT and she ordered for me "Mother-to-be Maternity Support." I also have another source that I haven't used, but it has some of the same principles. Your midwife might be able to get it.
Elizabeth, I'd be happy to loan it to you if you want to try it out. It's a 3 piecer, and it really helped me alleviate the back pain and other pains. Send me your address and I'll pop it in the mail..or I can meet in person. It has the instructions with it, but if you're a visual or hands on learner, it might be easier if I explained it to you.

Oh, I found it on Amazon so you can see. I guess after 3 years it's readily available.

I spent a lot of time and money trying to find good support with my last pregnancy. If you want good support don't bother with a Prenatal Cradle as it really isn't enough by far. The belt I ended up getting was this one from DocOrtho.
I also just ordered a Belly Bra. I have heard they are good - I'll let you know. I like the concept of it anyway.
God bless,

Oh Elizabeth, I threw out the expensive belt that I bought because I'd been holding it for so long and no one wanted it. That one just wasn't right for me and what I needed.
I was having lower back pain-pretty bad-plus baby was BIG. Oh, and don't forget the kidney stones.
I got a simple "maternity belt" from Motherhood stores for about $10-$15. It was a lifesaver! It kept my back in a straight alignment and helped hold up the belly. It was just a wide velcro "band" that didn't look like much but boy, did it help when I needed it. I couldnt' walk without it.
Higly recommend!

I did not like my pregnancy belt. My kids are huge, and maybe it helped a little with the weight, but I disliked the tight feeling of something around me.
I think its one of those things you don't know unless you try-everyone's different and maybe every pg is different.
Wish I knew what moving box mine is in for you. Dh spent a lot on that thing.

I used 2 different kinds. I cannot recall the brand of the first kind - it was tight and uncomfortable. I think it just moved the pressure from one place to another.
Anyway, the one I liked was called the Prenatal Cradle http://www.prenatalcradle.com/
It was very supportive, but not bulky or uncomfortable. I also used the V2 support with it and found that to be very useful (if you need that sort of thing ).
I hope this helps,
Christine
