Happy Wednesday friends . I'm glad to report that I'm not freezing this week! I hope those who are still cold find lovely ways to stay warm. Hot chocolate comes to mind
We've been dealing with baseball stuff her, hoping oldest can transfer to local high school without penalty. It's a convoluted story that I won't go into but things are looking good.
We had dental appts this week. Pray for my John Paul who is having extra work done, please. I'm at the point where they tell me about all the awful things to expect as my teeth deteriorate. Charming
I posted at my blog Happiness rejecters. If you like it, hit the like button so I know you've stopped by! If you have a minute more, would love a comment. We've talked so much about joy here. I hope some of that comes across.
I'm off to lunch with a dear homeschooling friend of mine. It has taken 2 MONTHS for us to connect. I bet you understand .
Have a great week!
Love,

It was 12 degrees here this morning, but I'm warming up...with a fever! I'd prefer hot chocolate.
At least the rest of the family is over it already so that I'm not taking care of them AND me...just the house and homeschooling and me. At least I've gotten to sit around awhile and watch Merlin reruns on our cable's instant play.
Praying for your intentions, Angie, and those of everyone that posts after me.
As for us, my oldest gets Confirmed on Saturday! It's hard to believe. Not much else is new here, so I'm off to read your blog post, Angie!

Ahhh...75 degrees today and sunny and a long bike ride with DS who usu. has me pulling my hair out with school work! Hoping this is just the "medicine" we needed to get thru the doldrums here.

9 degrees right now here...up from the morning low of
-8. Way too cold for my arthritis and of course the kids are indoor bound, so they are bouncing off the walls. We have no warm-up forecast until the weekend when it will reach the balmy 20's.
We are almost done with our Australian lapbook. I will post about it when it is finished. We had a lot of fun with this---it helps with the burnout factor to get away from our regular schoolwork. (we are heading to the Great Barrier Reef these next few days--maybe it will make us feel warmer)
Daddy, Laura and Mark head to Washington for the March for Life Thursday night...it is about an 8 hour drive. They are attending the march and the sight-seeing on Saturday and then singing at a shrine in Maryland on Sunday for Mass.--then the 8 hour drive home. Amy is attending the March with the Christendom College bunch.
Praying for your intentions, Angie.

I'm praying for all the travelers for the March, since snowy/icy weather is in the forecast.
Amy, praying that you will get better. I've been sick for a month now. I did get a diagnosis and meds and hoping I'm on recovery. But wow, do I have a lot catching up to do. My school year is completely shot.
But I'll think about that tomorrow....recovery is my first priority.
I have used my new oven twice, although I still can't smell or taste anything.
I got a replacement phone on Monday, so I can get my prayer life back to priority. That was the main aspect I missed!

It's very cold here, too (I live kinda sorta near Amy). This California girl is NOT amused.
It's been a things-fall-apart week...#1 son's car has been giving him some problems, and yesterday the battery died because it is even colder in Indy than it is here. His cell phone wouldn't work, either, but that turns out to be a cell tower issue. So - we've talked a lot on the phone...and the car has a new battery...
...and meanwhile our garbage disposal died (happily, my husband can fix this), we need to repair our ridge vent and we have a pipe that is hammering in spite of our attempts at fixing it, so it's plumber time.
...and meanwhile Dancing Daughter is headed to the ENT doctor tomorrow in the hope that he can help her get her sinus issues under control.
But, we're all doing okay, and I'm earning a bit of extra money this week, which we will need to pay that plumber!
I'm praying for everyone. Please pray for Dancing Daughter and #1 Son, and for one of my husband's Sailors, who is trying hard to tackle mental health issues but experiencing many setbacks.
Oh, and will you please join me in storming St. Joseph with prayer? Layoff and furlough plans are being drafted for DoD, and they are drastic. Many, many of my friends will be out of work if these plans have to be implemented.

Well, it is 15 below Celsius which isn't that bad for us but that wind is just plain nasty so it feels like it is 30 below. The boys went outside to play hockey this afternoon but only last for 10 min.
It is birthday week here. M's birthday was on Mon. She had a friend stay over night. D's birthday is today and he had a friend over for the afternoon. I am ready for a quiet day tomorrow.

It has warmed up to zero (F) or even above ( ) for much of this past week--lovely! Got lots of much-needed outdoors work done.
We took a trip down to Anchorage last week so our son could take a tour of the University of Alaska-Anchorage. He liked it very much and I got a chance to speak face-to-face with the head of admissions, who seemed to feel there would be no problems for ds to be accepted for the fall! It's his first choice of schools, so that's good news! Yippee! (and also if you know what I mean). So now we just wait for the official letter...
Driveway just got plowed ahead of more snow expected the next few days. Gotta keep up with it seeing as we have waist-deep snow accumulated at this point--even after a bit of melting from warm weather last week.

It is much warmer here this week - 50's and 60's. Nice but so very dry - very little snow and after a dry winter last year too, we are facing low reservoirs and expected drought. So wouldn't mind more cold and wet while it is still winter.
This week, I am especially thankful to just be here, able to post in the Wednesday shout out. My car was hit on Monday night by a drunk driver. I'm fine fortunately, and the car sustained some damage but not much considering the drunk driver hit another car, went airborne and flipped on its side then slide across the intersection seemingly straight at me (I was stopped at stop sign). It only scraped across my front end and hood as it slide past before going onto the lawn next to me and turning upright. The driver was thrown to the passenger side and almost hanging out window, passed out - though he is not seriously injured apparently, which I can't even believe after seeing it. Beyond scary and surreal seeing a massive hurling object screeching toward you & unable to do anything. The impact was hard, but I do truly feel guardian angels hands holding that car as it just barely scraped over me. It honestly seems like my car kept his from completely overturning which surely would have been much worse for him. Any less and it would have missed me - any more and it would have creamed me. I've spent the days since, thinking "what if." If my car had been a few more feet forward it would have slammed into me broadside and at that speed and mass... . So I am offering much thanksgiving to God this week!!!
And after reporting last week that my son's potential wedding date had been floating all over the calendar, it seems they are back to August 2013 and ready to actually sign a contract for reception. Will be glad when that is final...
Congrats to your daughter Amy on her upcoming confirmation. Theresa, great to hear about your son and U of Alaska (can't believe it either - how fast time flies!) Praying for everyone's intentions.

Oh, my goodness, Mary! How utterly terrifying that must have been! Praise God for His ultimate wisdom in giving us guardian angels to watch over us!!! So glad you came through it unscathed.

Well Wednesday it was still pretty cold.. then it warmed up into the 40's yesterday.. seems to be headed that way today too.. and we have a high chance of snow (it does seem to go with the warming up.. we're one of those place where it warms up to snow )
Lots of potential changes here.. mainly my sister's family is moving away and my mom i planning on splitting her time between the two of us. We'd been considering adding onto our house and just about need to if she's going to have space.. so we just need to get the ball rolling on that and see what we can do of what we want to do.

It's been pretty cold here in NC for the last few days, and now (Friday) it's sleeting. Glad I bought lots of milk earlier in the week, and canned soup, too. I could make homemade with all the chicken leavings in the freezer, but it hasn't been that kind of week . . .
My 10-year-old son has pneumonia, and we've done two ER trips . . . last night they would have admitted him, except that we have a nebulizer at home, and I'm alone with him and my 9yo right now while my husband and 15yo are at the March for Life -- with all the worst flu cases in the county concentrated in the hospital, they're not even letting anyone under 12 up onto the floors. So home we came after some evaluation and conversation with the doc who had diagnosed him the night before. Fortunately he seems a lot better today, after two days of antibiotics. But we're lying low, and school has been a total shambles. At least we get in read-alouds and audiobooks.
And my 2-year-old dishwasher, just out of warranty, has died. That is, for the cost of a very basic dishwasher with no computerized component, I could have replaced this dishwasher's mainboard for the fourth or fifth time -- I've lost track. So now we have a totally basic manual-dial GE on order, and meanwhile I have a very fancy pull-out dish drain rack. My house is starting to seem like an appliance graveyard . . .
Also, we put our oldest on the plane to Rome last Friday for her UD semester abroad. So far she seems to be having a fabulous time, though we don't hear a whole lot from her directly.
Sending up a prayer for all who are sick (and sick of being sick!) and of thanksgiving that Mary's accident was not worse.
Sally

Oh Mary! How terrifying. I am so thankful you are okay. I was hit by a drunk driver when I was in college. I was with my friend and was hit about 2 feet in front of the door on my side. The car was totaled and we were taken away in an ambulance for stitches and a broken rib and such. It is definitely something you don't forget.
It was in the high 70s on Wednesday and is now rainy and 'cold' today. We don't really know cold here, I know, but it has been lovely listening to the rain.

We've had some wild weather here for the last few days. Still can't believe we have had tornadoes in Australia!! Admittedly up North but we have felt the effect down here. Poor Bundaberg in Qld has been terribly hit with large parts of the town completely submerged and now the hospital has gone under and they have evacuated the patients. This is a city that has only just recovered from the floods of 2010.
We've had wild winds and torrential rain for days here and our River has risen extremely rapidly. In fact we thought the town was going to go under today, but looks like the levee has peaked at 8.08m, levee wall is 8.1m They have been holding it back with sandbags in places. This is the biggest flood ever, bigger than the 1 in 100 yr floods!! I had to head into town this morning and the main street shops were mostly closed or nearly empty as the shop owners were packing everything up higher.
Many homes were evacuated and the SES (State Emergency Services) were door knocking and telling those left to leave. Stock trucks were moving cattle, people out looking, the river was extremely swift. The strangest part is it has finally stopped raining and no winds, but yet the river kept rising.
We're out of town and on a hill so all safe year and so very grateful we moved out of town as had it breached the wall our old house would be under.
