I know we've had conversations in the past. I can't find them.

I'm getting a replacement phone and need a new protective cover.

Would someone be able to help me find the threads or give some input?

Not sure if you're getting a 4 or a 5, Jenn...but both my husband and I really like the Amazon basics covers. They aren't fashion choices, and I do like a pretty phone cover! But I had bad luck for so long with covers that I've been thrilled with this cover and haven't looked back!

I have a white iphone 4 and I really like the clear cover. I've had mine for over a year, and dropped it a few times on cement and tile with no damage. The cover has protected the screen because it has a little lip edge on it that means that the actual screen doesn't come into contact with the ground. The phone also fits snugly into the case so there's not movement within the case...yet it does come off for cleaning easily enough (not easy...but not so tight that I'm ready to scream). I don't like rubbery textured covers because they snag in my hair or purse. The Amazon basics cover has just the right amount of rubbery grip so that it feels secure in the hand, but also slides easily out of a purse pocket and doesn't snag/pull my hair. The cover comes with a screen film that I recommend. I haven't replaced mine in a year and it's kept my screen nice.

I will say that after about a year, my clear cover has yellowed just a little. It's actually not that noticeable and doesn't look terribly dingy, but when I took my cover off the other day to clean my phone and cover I noticed it. But the price is low enough that I could just replace the cover with a new one.

My husband has a black iphone 5 and he has an Amazon basics cover in smoke gray that he really likes, but he's only had his for a few months. He has dropped his a few times already though...with no damage.

Really glad you're getting a replacement phone!! One nice thing about the iphone is that as soon as you sync your new phone to your computer/itunes it will restore itself, complete with all your old pictures and texts, just as you had your old phone set up with your last sync! That means your contacts and all your apps will still be there!

Dh got his at Staples, I think. I will ask him what kind, but it is very rubbery and resilient. He intentionally got it knowing that, though he takes measures to keep it away from the boys, they are a tough bunch!

It is the Seidio CONVERT case for iPhone 4 and it has nearly 5 stars with almost 60 reviews on amazon. It has been great. A challenge if u do a lot of photos though off/on.

Interesting. I was sure there was a conversation about Otter cases or something. Where is my head?

My last case had the silicone/plastic around the sides, but not the front. It withstood a lot, and my phone was in excellent condition.

I do use photos a lot, so I don't think Convert would be a good option for me.

Jenn, you are probably thinking of the Otterbox.

One of my iPhone friends loves his Otterbox (durable!) and another friend tried it but can't use it because it covers up one of the ports for what I think is her car charger. (Faulty memory is mine...I can check if you need details.)

I just saw this come into my inbox, and it made me laugh

I mean, I get how a runner or jogger would like it, but I found it humorous all the same.

Yeah, it doesn't quite fit my lifestyle, Lindsay.

Jen, I have to admit I've never thought of a phone as a fashion accessory, so no need to apologize for basic protection. I'm all in!

Car charger is fickle, isn't it? I'll try to cheaper one first. Thanks, Nancy.

Humorous but those using it for running with earphones in both ears will end up killed.. seriously, I had one cut across a corner RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME and she didn't know I was there until she was halfway across and finally thought to check both ways

I "get" that it helps you enjoy the run but either stay aware of your surroundings or go run on a track where you don't have to be.

When I was looking for my ipad cover this is the case that I was really impressed with for the iphone: Griffin Survivor

I have a phone that doesn't need protection because it isn't worth anything, but if I upgraded to and iphone I would give this one a serious consideration.

FWIW, I got the gumdrop for my ipad and LOVE it, here is their case for the iphone: Gumdrop Drop Tech

The other thing I used before that I'm replacing is the Vera Bradley Tech Case

I just found it very handy to keep my phone clean, easy to access (doesn't get as lost in the purse as easily), and easy to carry without a purse. I also liked having the extra padding.

I had hoped to sew my own, but my sister gave me one for my birthday last year...and I really liked it. I also kept my ear buds in the case, also.

Ear buds...that's another topic, but I have small ears and these hurt and are very uncomfortable. I have got to find another option.

I highly recommend the Otterbox because I use my phone A LOT! Its our house line and my business line and that Otterbox is break proof!

PLEASE can someone start an earbud thread if they have ones that actually FIT their ears!!!! My ears are killing me from listening to Audiobooks while knitting and I need to find ones. Those ones that have different sizes don't fit my ears:)

Sorry to highjack:(

I have had an Otterbox. It kept my 3GS safe and clean for almost 3 years. I now have the 5. I have never had issues with the chargers with the Otterboxes.
