Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I wanted to let everyone know about a neat three day camp opportunity that Apple Stores are offering right now:

Quote:
At Apple Camp, kids ages 8-12 learn how to shoot their own footage, create an original song in GarageBand on an iPad, and put it all together in iMovie on a Mac. This free workshop, held at Apple Retail Stores, spans three days and ends with campers debuting their masterpieces at the Apple Camp Film Festival. Space is limited and workshops fill up quickly, so sign up now for a super-creative adventure.*

My son is very excited to attend!

Neat! My son will be 8 by the next available camp here. Do you stay with the children?

Yes. That is a requirement that a parent stay in the store at all times during the camp. The camp sessions are an hour and a half long for three days.

Oh good. That would be my preference! Do you have a link with any more details , or did you talk to your apple store? I saw the registration but no info.

I don't have much more info, Amanda, and no other link. Sorry. We're pretty familiar with our local store as well as with the programs being used (iMovie and Garageband) so we sort of knew what we were getting into.

I just clicked through the registration process, confirming a camp date. It was very simple. It's not set in stone either, if you need to cancel you can do that at any time because they keep a waiting list and if you cancel another child can step into your child's place. Once you register, you receive an email confirmation with your dates, a link to a permission statement, and a request that your child bring a digital or video camera to the first class (if you don't have one, the store says they will provide one that can be used at the end of the class).

That's it!

Thank-you for this information. It sounds like a lot of fun. Unfortunately, every camp near us is full. There was one that had a wait list, so we're hoping that a spot will open.

Do you know is this is something that is offered periodically?

I did find another link with a little more information on the Apple camp!

And yes, Diana, local Apple stores do offer these camps periodically, as well as other free workshops and classes for young people.   There are links to check out what is being offered at your local store.
