Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Jen, I am loving this Christmas (or Advent - all purple/pink) decorating idea. It makes me think of juggling, too (all the "balls" suspending in midair) - so would be a whimsical idea during the Little Juggler/Advent study.

Someone left a comment on my blog with another link for a "Juggler for God" link. W.H. Auden's version of the story.

Found another one listed, although I haven't seen it:

The Little Juggler by Katherine Evans of the Christian Child's Stories, published by Bruce Publishing Company.

Bumping another favorite thread for the upcoming season...

Some craft ideas:
Make your own juggling balls -Juggling Balls

Make a picture of juggler with a cut-out window and a circle behind it with 6 balls. Connect with a brad so that it turns in the window, simulating juggling. I'll post a picture after I do it.

Barnaby the Juggler - by Andy Griffith (who woulda thought...)

I also found that Mary Reed Newland references the general juggler story in her book The Year and Our Children in a section called "Advent Penances and a Story about a Juggler."

Quote:
There is a story to tell at the beginning of Advent, about someone who had nothing to give. It illustrates best of all for children how intangible is to God the most tangible, and makes entirely reasonable to them a scale of values one would suppose far over their heads. The story is "The Juggler of our Lady." It is as old as old, but each time it is told, it seems more beautiful.

And then it proceeds to tell a version of the story. I did not remember this from previous reading of the book.
