I can't seem to find a decent pencil sharpener...have tried manual ones and electric. I don't want to waste anymore money on a sharpener that is going to break after about a month...or the sharpener dulls. Any suggestions? Dena

Thank you! That is the one I was considering...do you have trouble with it sharpening off center? Some of the reviews says it does...

And I see Baby will soon be here!!! How are you? Dena

No I can't say we've had any problems that aren't caused by cheap pencils.. you know the ones that can't be sharpened without breaking by any method though this even does reasonably on those most of the time.

I've had it now for 3 years.. no problems and the kids aren't the gentlest with it. I have it up in the garage (right outside the kitchen) so that if someone opens it.. it doesn't bother me near so much to have pencil shavings dumped. I've cleaned crayon out of it (just using a toothpick or such cleaning the wax out of the groves) and it goes back to working just fine.

And baby is here now.. just turned 3 weeks old.. and is such a love.. so sweet.. he's a snuggler and everyone loves to hold him.

I second the idea of a metal wall mount. The one mentioned is not exactly the one we got. After 3 years of hs and going through countless hand held and a couple of electric ones we have really found the wall mounted one to work the best for us. We've been using it for over a year now .

It looks like its the same brand but a less expensive version:
X-acto Wall Mount
My thinking at the time was "let's see if it works first." It really has.

Oh my goodness. I read 9-16 and thought 10-16. Glad you all are doing well!

Thank you to both of you for your advice...I really appreciate it! Dena

We have this one as well. It is heavy, but the screws it comes with for mounting seem a little short. We mounted ours using longer screws. I am glad we did because the baby is just tall enough to reach it and pull on it.

We bought the boys little manual one at Amazon that is AMAZING. And I agree about cheap pencils. We only buy Dixon Ticonderoga pencils (snob I am).
