Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I almost passed this book up because I thought it was about Twitter. My first thought was "This has gone too far if it's a children's book!"

But I'm glad I had a closer look. At Ollie's I picked up United Tweets of America: 50 State Birds, Their Stories, Their Glories by Hudson Talbott.

The style is a bit reminiscent of The Scrambled States of America by Laurie Keller (and as I just looked up that book I see she has Scrambled States of America Talent Show which looks fun. Gotta look for that!)

The book goes through each state, highlighting the bird of the state, giving some bits of information regarding the bird, but also giving much more interesting information about the state. What makes it captivating is the humor in relating it. Virginia, for example, has the cardinal as the state bird. But the page is full of different presidents who were born here, but all done with a cardinal face.

As we are really into birds and also studying America, this is a perfect combination, and quite fun!

Ooops! The one time I didn't look to see if a book was already featured, I see MaryM and her great taste already beat me!

So, she agrees with me -- it's a GREAT book!
