Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We have just started the first book of the Melendy family; The Saturday Club by Elizabeth Enright. Haven't read this one before, loving it already

I realise my children enjoy books featuring families, so happy choice.

We just started Little Britches by Ralph Moody. This is another "new" book for my dh. I am working on getting him to love this read a loud time.

Stephanie, how did your husband like it? My husband was the principle reader of that series and LOVED them, but I haven't managed to get him "into" a family read aloud since.

We were reading the Little House series, but I stopped around Little Town on the Prarie just because I felt they were getting a little "old" for my young boys. I picked up All of a Kind Family at the library and started it next.

The boys protested at first. Then my oldest said, "that's a girl book." I told him that Little House was, too, but he insisted he wanted to read Little House. I told him we'd just read one chapter and see if he liked it and wanted to keep going. Of course, he LOVED it So that's been our current read aloud. We are almost done, though, and I need a new one soon!

We just finished Baby Island as our before bed book. What a great story!
The kids loved the parrot, Halfred, and we were all dying to know by the end what was in Mr. Peterkin's chest.

On a side note, I wish I had the fortitude of Mary and Jean!

We have just finished the third in the Melendy series, Then there Were Five and have now started the last book, Spider Web for Two. We haven't ever read the last before so are especially enjoying.

Actually we have read a number of Saint books too this year, I'll have to compile a list.

We just finished two amazing books--"Tuck Everlasting" by Natalie Babbitt and "Bud Not Buddy" by Christopher Paul Curtis.   My kids were begging to read 'the next chapter' all the way through the books.

We are now reading "Baby Island."
