Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Ugh, I feel like I spend my days digging broken pencil tips out of pencil sharpeners or cleaning up the pencil shavings that got spilled out of the pencil sharpener after someone wasn't careful or my almost 3yo got a hold of it.

I remember how nice of a point the old wall mounted pencil sharpeners in school used to make. Somehow they were sharp, but not "sharp", kwim?

I want a wall mounted pencil sharpener I was looking at them on Dick Blick and the one that looked the most like the ones from my school days got bad reviews Does anyone have one they recommend?? I definitely want to avoid any that have an antibacterial coating on it. I really want one I can mount to the wall and that doesn't use batteries.

Thanks!

Beth

We got this one and it's been WONDERFUL.

oh the occational someone ("Not Me") will put in a crayon and I get to scrap crayon out of the ridges.. but even that doesn't take too long and the sharpener works great again once you do that. And we've had it now for 3 years or so and it's still working great.

One problem my husband always cites when I am at my whits end and want a wall mounted sharpener is that they can really grind down the pencil fast- not such a problem with our everyday pencils but not what we want with the expensive artists pencils we draw with....

We have the all metal X-Acto version from DickBlick (I think it was between $20-$30). It has been much better for not grinding pencils down to a stub, the way our electric sharpener always did. But then, we probably have a dozen different sharpeners around here... in all shapes, styles and sizes...everyone has their favorites for various types of pencils.

We have the same one, and it's great. I like all the different sized pencil holes. It's very similar to the one my parents have had for 50 years, that is still going strong!
