Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

The Easter Parade

Eloise Greenfield

This short little book is 41 pages.... set in Chicago and Washington DC during WWII. Two little girls are cousins preparing for Easter, and one has a father fighting overseas. The story shows how two families help each other long distance while preparing for Easter and the Easter parade. I loved reading about the Easter outfits the girls selected. I loved the bond between the cousins and the mothers (who are sisters). If you can read this one without tearing up when you get to the part about the mailman, you are a lot stronger than I am.

This would be a great selection for WWII reading as well as Easter reading.

Family, sharing, cousins, sisters, WWII, letters, Easter
