Please would you give me some ideas for July 4th desserts. I am going to make a flag cake - vanilla cake with healthy coolwhip substitute on the top, strawberries and blueberries. But I need to make one more thing to take to some friends that we are going to be watching fireworks with.
Thanks.

These are so not healthy......
Chica and Jo cupcakes
and some flag cupcakes from the Martha Stewart webpage, I can't make the link work. There are quite a few fun ideas on her site, I think under red, white and blue desserts.

We are going to do red, white and blue Jell-O jigglers for the kids and this berries and stars dessert for the grownup.

Thank you so much. I think I am going to go with the Star Spangled Crispies to go with my cake.
I found this siteTheir summer frozen treats section is just awesome - I have printed out the lemon cups and watermelon sorbet to make for our summer teas. Also the honeydew with raspberry sorbet.
I have to go have a snack - these desserts are making me hungry (and hey - I am a nursing mama!!!)

Charlotte, I made your Berries & Stars dessert for our celebrations (4th & My Mom's 70th b-day).
It was absolutely delicious and very simple to make!
I had to call it Berries & Cream though..... I got busy and burned the stars.
Thank you for sharing!

We made a flag cake for the first time, but this is the only picture I got of it.

Oh, no!
It's good to see the mishaps (my burning stars and ummm, demolished desserts). It's life. It happens.
Your cake was a total loss though, Leah. I'm sorry. Great pic, though.

Luckily I took that this morning after we'd enjoyed two days worth of cake.

Oh, Leah...but it is a funny picture
I just saw this post of 4th of July treats at Crafty Crow. Too late for this year - but might "spark" some ideas for next.

I guess I could have added these. They are precious. And she includes the templates to print out generic ones.

Why I'm reading in depth a 4th of July post I don't know maybe because our flag has the same colours, I could use some ideas...Mary, I love the fruit and marshmallow kababs, GOT to do that one day!
