Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I was 42 for my first dc and 44 for my 2nd. I am often asked by close friends... so I dont mind saying that they were both conceived naturally. Is that why you are asking about the twins, since it is common for twins or more to be a result of other methods of fertilization?

Twins also happen naturally more later in life when it's more likely for a woman to release 2 eggs at once.

I was 43 when I had twins, and my OB said, "Well, that's the last time I'll see you!". A year later I got pregnant again and had my youngest when I was almost 45!

I was almost 44 when I had number 3 and then 45 when I had number 4. Very easy deliveries and recoveries. No 3 was a very easy pregnancy. No 4 not, but I had a toddler!

I had a baby at 44. I just miscarried a month short of my 47th birthday. My mom had identical twins at age 44 and another baby at 46. The OB told me that prolonged fertility can run in families. I also thought that "openness to life" also runs in families!

Nedra, I had twins when I was 38 (they were number 5 and 6). My husband works long hours, also, and I didn't have any family in the area. It was very difficult for those first several years. However, when they turned 3 I began having that baby longing again. It had taken a little longer than with the other children! However, much to my dismay, I never got pregnant again. I am 48 now, so I have resigned myself to not having anymore. I am so thankful that my last two were twins!

I have had three pregnancies since I turned forty. A miscarriage at 40, healthy baby at 41 and a miscarriage last year at 42. I am 43 and hopeful for another baby, God-willing.

I just read that eating full fat dairy products helps in increasing fertility by 40%. Very interesting!

I was pregnant with twins when I turned forty. Sadly, we lost one in utero, but happily Karoline was born healthy!
I delivered my ninth baby--Sarah--when I was 42.My kids pray for twins all the time.

I am 44 and my girls pray for twins too! My youngest just turned 2. My two older girls play violin with a set of 6 year old twins, and they can't get over how "cute" they are together.
My mother had my youngest brother at 46, so I am hoping that I might have 2 more :)

Blessings,
Stephanie

My dd was born when I was 45, and I miscarried another baby at 47.

I read somewhere that late 30s is the age at which a woman is most likely to have twins.

wow ladies what a hopeful thread ! Thank you so much ! Adfter having 9 miscarriages and my uterus being shot I sorta was afraid to concieve agin and thought after having our first grandbaby well my time had just gone by . However I started drinking uterine teas again just to eliviate some of my cramping issues and always have that little bit of hope floating around inside me . I'd love to do the unassited birth thing one time as my friend and midwife really felt with our last live birth we should've done it alone I also miss the nursing a baby too . I just never felt quite done but have to learn to trust on either end of the issue I guess .

Like Florasita, I find this thread very hopeful and want to thank you all for sharing! I too hold out hope that we have more, God willing. I have miscarried our last 3 babies and wonder if there will be anymore. There was about 6 months in between the times I miscarried and then conceived again and this time it has been 10 months so I was starting to give up hope, but you all have helped me regain it!

My youngest brother was born when my mother was 47. He's entering college this fall! I think about that when I hope that my health issue will improve and God will let me have one more myself one of these days.
