Please say a prayer for my grandmother. She fell about a week ago ( In memory care) and had a "hole/cut" in her arm. It went untreated and now she has been admitted in the hospital with a staph infection. The regular nurse was on leave for two days after it happened and no one contacted my parents about coming in to see it, they only called to tell them she had fallen. Apparently the staff is unable to even apply bacitracin, only a bandaid on anything without a Dr note. My mother said her forearm and hand are as red as a beet. This has my mother very upset as well.

Oh my! I hope she heals quickly. Even little things are so much more difficult at that age, and this is no little thing! Praying for your grandmother and for your mother as she deals with her hurt and anger.

My dad called tonight to say "surgery went well" I wasn't told they took her to surgery, but apparently the surgeon looked at her arm and decided it was beyond draining, so they took her to surgery immediately and removed a good portion of the "fatty part" of her arm protecting the muscle and bone. Now she will need a skin graph to repair how much they had to remove. I can't imagine how quickly this became infected. My dad said that she is not out of the woods yet based on her age. Thank you for your prayers. She has no idea she's been through this ( suffers from dementia)

Wow, what a difficult situation! I'm so sorry this happened to your grandmother and I pray that the continued medical treatment goes well and leads to complete healing. My grandmother is 95, so I know how medical issues take on a new meaning for that age group!

Emily, it is frightening how things from something very simple can esculate for the elderly, praying for your grandmother that she will make a good and complete recovery.

Dear friends, this has taken a terrible turn for the worse with all parties involved. Please offer Memorares as much as possible I beg of you to ask our Lady to pray for my grandmother, Jean tonight and throughout tomorrow. My mom called tonight and told us they have decided to stop feeding her! She didn't like her nose feeding tube in at all and my parents have decided after reading her living will to not do the surgery to place a stomach feeding tube. But now, to my shock, they are not having the nurse feed her unless she asks and they feel this is God's will. The phone call escalated and mom hung up on me and I am very hurt by her action. I called back and talked to my dad and said at least to offer the food to her mouth ( she wasn't feeding herself before the infection) but they are not ever going to offer it. They said this was the hardest thing for them and they cried all night over it. BUt I still persisted and said that is starving her and God will take her when her time is done here. I am more shocked when they told me that just today she was asking for her sewing machine. ON wednesday she ate food my dad fed her. I am sorry for the rambling, but I am so hurt by this. My grandmother and I were very close and I cannot get there as JOhn is still deployed. Please offer prayers for God's will to be done. Thank you
