We are cold - and we need to get some new blankets!! (I am not even going to tell you what our thermostat is set to - makes me look like a wimp compared to all you "freeze your buns off" participants from last year!!) Can anyone recommend nice soft warm blankets (not wool) - preferably that I can order online. One of my sons has a lovely twin size one - a Serasoft or something like that - he got it a couple of years ago - not sure where to get them now.

We picked up some of the Shabby Chic blankets that Elizabeth recommended last year. Dd was just singing their praises at dinner tonight. I picked up a "down" comforter at CostCo last week...LOVE IT! Very, very toasty and cozy!

We love the very soft and cozy blankets that are at the entrance to our Costco right now. Unfortunately, they are made in China :-( but they are incredibly warm! The one by the door is an oversize queen ($20) but further back in the store there was an oversize king ($25).

I don't remember the Shabby Chic blankets - what are those?

Marilyn,

I think so. The price for the twin is different. I bought them at the store on Saturday and paid 49.50 for a twin. UGH!

It appears they are on clearance now.

We all have Korean mink blankets (they are HEAVY acrylic, very very plushy and toasty warm). I don't know where you can buy them in a store here - ours were gifts from friends stationed in Korea - but I've seen them on eBay. They aren't cheap (but neither is a down comforter) but they are so, so warm. Also, they aren't made in China.

There are all kinds of designs out there - some are obnoxious - but solid colors, animals and Disney characters are also available. (Maybe search on "Korean" and "solid" so you don't have to look at Confederate flags and illegal plant leaves?)

Be sure you get a Korean-made one, though. There are imitations out there - don't know how warm they are.

These are our favorite blankets! Very warm! Court got them in Korea. He wants to go back just so he can get some more.

Those mink blankets are nice. I don't think I ever really appreciated them when I moved back to San Diego after Korea. I think my dad is there now, to bad I didn't think of them before!

Looking at the picture, I think the Costco one is a lot like the shabby chic one - but no satin around the edge. MUCH cheaper though!

I got the super-soft Costco one. At our Costco, it came in soft moss green, soft grey-blue, and cream. I have been very happy with it. I wish they came in twin size, for the kids, but they only have them in Queen and King.

Our Costco had wine/maroon; the soft moss green, and cream. I am not one to rave about blankets, but I love ours so much, I gave one to my mom for her birthday :-)

I have one of the blankets from Costco on my bed, along with flannel sheets and "down" comforter also from my favorite store.....Costco.

I am going to get a Costco one for my bed - still have to figure out twin sizes though - the Target ones are above my budget at $49.50 as I have 5 to get.

I'm going out shopping this morning for throws for the livingroom. We have one right now that is falling apart and the kids fight over it!    Plus it has a hole in it...

So I think I will buy 3 or 4, I know I don't want fleece or anything else that will attract dust and pet hair - any suggestions?

We go for down for warmth without the bulk- it helps when it is -40 outside and live in a very old and drafty house!
