Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Our family is looking to tivo (record) some EWTN programs. For those of you who watch this network, what are your favorite no-miss shows?

Love,

FYI, Angie, EWTN is frustrating when trying to DVR or TIVO shows. They aren't always on time or programming isn't always right...just to let you know. I've done keyword records and timed records, sometimes have to add minutes before and/or after. I have to do the same with late night PBS for shows like Signing Time! or Bill Nye.

Anyway, I would tape Joanna Bogle's shows Feasts and Seasons of the Church, Raymond Arroyo's World Over Live. We also taped the Rosary in the Holy Land to pray along and Divine Mercy Chaplet.

Our main use of EWTN is the special programming, for special feast days or pope visits, like the current WYD. The past American visit there were tons of shows on Pope Benedict that we taped and watched.

After the birth of my littlest one, we got to know the kids shows pretty well.    I remember the kids liked We Are Catholic and the Donut Man (maybe for JP).

Yesterday, we watched the Pope's arrival to Australia for Youth Day. The kids were soo excited. That's when I'm especially grateful for EWTN.

Mark and I have watched a priest from.....good ole' Scranton, PA.    I'll have to find out his name, but he's packed full of info about Vatican II.

We also enjoy listening to Father John Corapi. He reminds us of Sean Connery, which can be distracting at times, but we just laugh.

When I remember, I'll look for specials about the Pope, saint, or check for holiday/feast specials and we'll record it. Between the hours of 3-5 (I think) are kids shows and that's where I check first.

Hope this helps!

Angie,
Our favorite show on EWTN is Sunday Night Live with Father Benedict. I absolutely love Fr. Benedict; he is so wise and holy, yet down-to-earth. His show has a call-in part, too, which is always lively!

I've been thinking about your question for a couple of days now. It's so odd that I can't really answer the question, even though I only have the TV on EWTN during the day.

It's challenging to pick just one or two that I enjoy most of all. It depends what I want...Bible Study, Mass, News, conversion stories....

EWTN is the ONLY link to the Catholic world I have.
Well, that's not fair to say since a new Catholic homeschooling group has formed near me.

Father Corapi - he was the very first person I heard on EWTN! I absolutely love listening to him....my DH can't stand him. , Father Groeshel, Mother Angelica... Father Pacwa hosts EWTN Live (probably my top picks for regular shows).

I enjoy listening to the reasons fallen away Catholics and people from other denominations decided to come home to the Catholic Church on Marcus Grodi's Journey Home. Life on the Rock.

My children enjoy the children's programs, like Donut Man or Faith Factory.

That's the long winded way to say, for me, it's easier to answer what I don't enjoy watching. It's the Rosary w/Mother Angelica and the nuns. I can listen, but not sit and watch.

The Journey Home is my favorite show on EWTN. I've learned SO much about our precious faith, and about others' faiths that has been SO helpful in my very ecumenical family and circle of friends.

Father Mitch Pacwa is incredible. He's a humble, but brilliant teacher of our faith! I love his Threshold of Hope show.

I love Life on the Rock, and The Abundant Life too. And I love getting the news from the perspective of The World Over as well. Raymond Arroyo cracks me up!

There is a study on the Gospel of Luke called "A Reason For Our Hope" by Rosalind Moss that I enjoy watching.

I also agree that Fr. Corapi and Fr. Groeschel are definitely worth watching!
