Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

...or whatever you call them (potato bugs, doodlebugs...)

Inspired by Alice's girls and their ability to create a habitat for almost any creature (the cottage they have for raccoons beats all, to be sure), I found this great site for keeping isopods:

Isopod care

Thank you, MacBeth!!!

Our roly-polys or doodlebugs will thrive and prosper now! I've sent this on to my siblings. Learn something new everyday!

We have lots of doodle bugs around our house. I was surprised one morning to see them feeding on a small (8") dead snake on our driveway. After some searching, I read that they do scavenge during droughts. Never occured to me to keep them as pets. Thanks for the idea, MacBeth!
