Hi!
I'm popping in to let you know I'll be posting the Craft of the Week instructions for the last week of May (5/26-5/30) sometime this weekend.
In the meantime gather some white poster board, red and orange (or yellow) tissue paper, glitter and glue. You'll want some small magnets (you can re-use old fridge magnets). That's it! Oh and you'll need your printer or a plain ole' permanent marker.
See you in a few days

Hi Molly and Chari and Janette!! It was so nice of you to pop in and say hi.
This week's craft is a Prayer Card for the Feast of the Sacred Heart. The last time we did theseI put a magnet on the back to keep them on the fridge. So if you'd like to do that simply use an old magnet off the fridge or from the phone book or junk mail and glue the finished card to it.

Start out with the heart shape cut out of white poster board and the red tissue paper cut into little squares (about 1/2 in.). I think our heart is about 2 1/2 to 3 in. across.
I use a little Elmer's glue in a paper cup. Add a little water to thin it and start painting in on the heart and adding red squares. These can overlap as much as you'd like. If you feel like it you can mix two shades of red paper together.
I also love Mary M's method of spreading the glue with Q-tips when you have lots of small children to help.
It's fine if the paper is outside the edge of the heart. We're going to trim them when they dry.

Here is the heart covered with red paper and some glitter sprinkled on. Now let it dry a bit and add some orange or orange and yellow tissue paper flames to the back with double stick tape or glue. You can now either print by hand or by computer a small prayer: "Sacred Heart of Jesus have Mercy on us!" on white paper and cut that in the shape of a heart. Glue to the center of the prayer card over the red paper.
At this point you may leave the white paper prayer as a heart in the center of the red heart, or cover around the edges like I did (in the next picture) with a bit more red tissue and watered down glue.

Once the glue is dry, trim around the edges of the heart. Add the magnet to the back and you're done! If you'd like you could glue two hearts back to back and make a mobile or dangling hearts from strings for your family or dining rooms. They could also be attached to the front of a card for your priest or grandparents. Let me know if you have any questions.
Have a happy feast day!

I love it, Gwen! We've been so non-crafty lately, and I've missed it. This is the perfect thing to get us going again.

I have been searching for a nice, simple craft for the children this afternoon and was just about to log off when I found yours Gwen. Not feeling overly creative at the moment, I'm glad you could fill the void.
Thank you
God Bless
