Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Do you intentionally do this?

I was just at Costco and there was a lovely book Pope Benedict XVI: Servant of the Truth by Peter Seewald. It's a beautiful book depicting his life and papacy. As I love learning the life of the popes, I thought this would be great, especially since only dh can go to the Mass, and I can show ds something about his life. The price (under $16) was also appealing. But I really bought it because it was an Ignatius Press book in Costco! It seems it would be hard to get a contract with such a major chain, so kudos to Ignatius!

Not sure if it will send the message I'm trying to give, but either way, I have a nice book about our wonderful Pope!

Now this is the BEST reason I've heard for impulse book-buying -- a reason even dh could love!

I definitely try to support the Catholic Press. I bought Jesus of Nazareth at Costco last year. I also check Catholic books out from our library. I heard that doing so keeps them in circulation. Our library carries several Ignatius Press and Sophia Institute Press titles.

Jenn, I am with you! Buy the Catholic books wherever you can. And what a great book!

The Barnes and Noble near us (Round Rock, TX outside of Austin) has a huge selection of Catholic books. It always amazes me to see it. Of course, they need to because the Catholic population is growing so rapidly in this area.
