Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My son, Ian, will be receiving First Holy Communion this year, the day before Mother's Day. We live part time in NY and part time in PA. He will be receiving the sacrament in PA.

For all of you who will be or who have celebrated a First Communion this spring, I would love for you to participate in a Frist Communion Fair over at Catholic Cuisine. Catholic Cuisine, which is a group blog sharing ideas for celebrating the liturgical year through food and recipes, will be hosting its first fair next week.

Since Spring (April/May) is a common time for First Holy Communions we are focusing this first fair on the festivities and foods of this sacrament's celebration. How does your family celebrate at home? Do you have a party? What foods are served? Does the first communicant pick the menu? Do you go out to eat to celebrate? Are there cultural traditions in your family?

There will be various First Communion related posts at Catholic Cuisine over the next week. Then the Fair will be May 15. Please PM me your submissions of First Communion Foods/Feast/Celebrations by the end of day May 14th (I'm up late, you know ). Even if you don't have a blog I would love your ideas and/or pictures to add to the fair.

Your participation would be very welcome and much appreciated! Thanks!!

Just bumping this (read the post above)- I know many of you have had the blessing of celebrating a First Communion this year (or in recent years!). Please consider submitting something for this fair. A picture is fine - it doesn't have to be an elaborate post. We are looking for lots of visuals for people to see. I need to receive them by tomorrow morning. Thanks in advance!!

The First Communion Fair is up, and it's a great job by all. Thanks, Mary, for putting it together!
