Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Good Saint Joseph
The Song of the Swallows
Any other biographical picture books specifically about St. Joseph? I can't seem to find any!
And I'm ashamed to say it never even occurred to me to search before this year!

Several members have recommended this book - Father and Son - though I have not seen it yet.

KathrynUK did a review of Father Son.

And Jennifer, that's the extent of my St. Joseph books, the same that you listed. I have ideas that I would love to see as picture books...

There was a thread last year with some book recommendations, when I asked about the Holy Family's
flight into Egypt.

Thanks, Suzanne!

Has anyone read Joseph's Story? They have used copies for as low as $1.26... I may not be able to hold back...

I was just asking Kathryn about that book. Because it's by Candy Cane press I wondered if it would really portray St. Joseph in a Catholic light.

I did end up getting this one last year through Inter-library loan, but I don't remember the text.....my girls were captivated by the images.

Just bumping this up.

Have we found any new books in the last three years? I've decided to inundate my library with purchase requests for books the library lacks So I just need some titles

We love Father and Son and I put St. Joseph's Story by Geraldine Guadango on my wish list, but hesitated because I couldn't see a preview. Anyone seen it or have it?

I have one we added, but it's OOP.

St. Joseph: First Book for Little Catholics by Father Gale

And one chapter book, Keeper of the Gate by Sister Margaret Patrice (also OOP).

I keep looking...I found one that had potential, but because it didn't treat the Virgin Birth correctly, I had to put it aside.

I went ahead and ordered this. I just got it today through AmazonPrime .

The first line starts with "God had special plans for Joseph." It proceeds to tell you about his childhood, meeting Mary and eventually marrying her and well you know the story. It is very simple text and nice illustrations very much like the cover. All pages are bordered, the text pages have a small picture almost window like in a corner and then a full illustration page next.

This is a nice compliment to Father and Son (which we have) because it focuses on Joseph, who he was and what he did. (I kept thinking about the Nativity Story film when reading this.)

By the way the author dedicates this to the memory of her father, who was a carpenter and 40 year member of St. Joseph's Church in Mountain View, CA .

Jenny, what would the target audience be for the book? Is it about the same as Father and Son?
