Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Butterflies

Supplies

Paper towels
Acrylic Paints
Eye Droppers
Paper
Pencil
Small Cups
Chenille Stems

This project takes a little time, but is very easy and fun. First, if your paper towels are two ply, take them apart so they are one ply. If you leave them as two ply, they become very stiff when dry.

Fill cup about ¼ full, add a few drops of paint, stir. Different colors needed different amounts of paint, you just need to decide how dark you want the paint.

Use eye droppers to drop paint on paper towels. You want to fill the paper towels with different colored paints. My did got very creative in the end. They loved filling the towels with paint, they made quit a few. We can make a lot of butterflies.

Lay out to dry. After they have dried, take your white paper and fold in half, draw a template of a butterfly. I used two pieces, one for the upper wings, and one for the lower wings. I think it looks better this way rather than one piece. Look at butterfly books to get different ideas for designs. Then fold paper towels in half, transfer design, and cut out.

Lay the two pieces with the upper wing slightly on top of the bottom wing, scrunch the middle of the butterfly together a bit, then twist the chenille stem around the butterfly, twist together at the top and cut the stems to the same length for the antenna. Adjust the wings and your done.

Clear as mud right . I will post pictures soon.

God Bless
Robynn

Pictures are posted, Robynn!

They are so cute. My kids love any excuse to use the food coloring or paint and droppers.
