Where Was George Washington?

This picture book is told from a cat's perspective who is running all over Mt. Vernon looking for George Washington. What is happening is Mr. Houdon is making the bust of George Washington. So, it is a bit of interesting historical insights and the story of that famous bust. We read this before our trip to Mt. Vernon and noticed that they have a replica of the bust in the house itself and the real one in the museum on the grounds. It is a fun and informative book.

That's cool. We didn't read any Mt. Vernon books before our visit this summer, but reading them now the kids recognize things in the illustrations that we saw in real life. George Washington's Cows especially had very accurate depictions of Mt. Vernon and it's rooms. Just like appreciating the tooth book after seeing GW's dentures.
