Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I just want to say thank you again. All of your input has been so helpful and reassuring to me! I'm praying for all of us to find and be the kind of role models we are desiring.

With love and gratitude,
Leslie

Hi Leslie (great name btw ),

I know I am late on this posting but I just wanted share a couple things that really helped me with my transition... if your church offers daily Masses you might try going to one or two during the week.

The Mass is shorter, not so many people, and a little more relaxed. It really helped my little ones and me to become more comfortable with all the formalities, prayers etc.

Also another *fabulous* resource that has helped me and I think your oldest will enjoy it (maybe not as much as you will ) is getting a subscription to Magnifikid

After a couple years my husband and I ended up getting the adult version which has helped our prayer life at home immensely. It also has all the Mass readings for each day incase you can't make it.

I too have had a couple incidents with folks at Mass that were pretty rude, and at the time it really hurt my feelings, but after a while I came to realize God was giving me a perfect opportunity to offer up the pain (and embarrassment) and pray for that person’s soul that probably desperately needed Him that day. It really helps to lessen the pain.

Anyhow... I hope this helps.

Leslie, that is a good thought for anywhere, anytime. I'm preparing to convert as well, and not only is my "practical" learning curve steep right now, but my family is/will be less than enthused. Plenty of area for me to practice what you have suggested.

Bethany, I agree with Leslie! And, I understand your situation in regard to you family. My DH did not convert with me, so that was a *major* cross(and still is at times), and my extended family is waaay out there. My Dad has always had an Eastern Guru, my Mom is protestant(though she will go to Mass with us at times!), and I have a sister and her family that are Mormons. My Dad is very well read-in a slighted way in my humble opinion... and he has tried so many times to corner me,quizing me about my Catholic faith. Our relationship is now nothing more than the occasional card for my DC's BDs.

Just wantedto post so you know you're not alone in the family thing!
