In honor of the multiple births we have had today, I thought this would be a nice picture book to highlight. Gorgeous illustrations - very realistic of how a newborn looks and acts. Sweet story of a baby's birth and the love her family has for this new baby as they celebrate her arrival with joy.

Suzanne, while I really like this book a lot and do highly recommend it, it is a hospital birth so has those elements (though it's not overly medical or interventive or anything). Because of that when we shared it with our younger children some things didn't apply to their birth experience at home. Just thought you'd want to know.

My actual favorite book by Robie Harris/Emberley is Hello Benny!. It is so cute. It follows a baby for one year through development. Each page spread has details about baby's development at that age and is a combination of factual details and humorous antecdote. Children with new baby siblings coming would love it!

Hadn't heard of Hello Benny either. Lib has that one too.

For a homebirth experience, we LOVE Welcome With Love Overend/Vivas. It's great and my girls make me read it with THEIR names, since they were at #4's birth at home.
I also found a book with the same cover, different title: Hello Baby. Wonder what the deal is????

This is by the same author as A Seed is Sleepy and An Egg is Quiet. A human mother and a bluebird mama both prepare for the birth of their offspring.
