Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Reviving this thread, would love to hear what everyone is doing this year for the 12 days of Christmas.

I was thinking of doing the 12 days of Christmas banner mentioned in some of the old threads. We don't have the Jesse Tree kit, but I think that is just used for the background?

Ever since Ruth posted about it, we've done her version of gift giving.

Last year, we had exactly 11 gifts left under the tree after we'd each opened one on Christmas morning. The boys picked one (of course, they can't read, so, no one is sure who it is for) each of the 12 days and they went to the respective recipient. It was a lot of fun, but is tricky to plan. I think we just counted, and the boys randomly picked (with some urging) the allotted amount on Christmas day and left the remaining 11. This meant we didn't need 12 gifts for *everyone,* but we still got to spread out the gift giving. It also allowed the boys time to enjoy one new gift at a time instead of being bombarded with several at once. We included the grandparents gifts, too, in the mix, but we are far away from family, and there was no pressure to open them in front of the grandparents or anything.

Our kids are the only grandkids on both sides of the family so they are always was over-blessed in the gift department. The first Christmas that our oldest was old enough to open gifts himself we saw him become quickly overwhelmed after two or three gifts. We started spreading them out that year.

It doesn't always work out to have one gift for each kid each day--although that worked well last year and the kids loved it. But we try to push all Christmas visiting into the Twelve Days. This year the kids will probably get three or four gift "installments" through the Twelve Days.

Epiphany is our own family celebration each year.

I'm interested to read the past threads on the Twelve Days.

My oldest dd has asked me to buy the 12 days of Christmas Faith folder since she is really enjoying the Advent one.

We are mostly planning to enjoy the fact that my husband is taking time off over the twelve days, lots of board games, baking and such like.   We also will have our big meal on the Epiphany.

Doing a big dinner on Christmas would be a bit stressful what with most of the family involved in the Christmas pageant and the choir. It's nicer to plan yummy browsing food for christmas day (baked goods, deli food, buns, fruit) and do the big fancy meal when my husband and the children can help.
