Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I really loved the Parade of O Antiphon Houses that Katherine compiled last year on her Living Education blog. It was nice to have them in one place. Since that link is not accessible any longer, I was hoping to recreate the links if possible. I'm making it a separate thread so it will be easier to locate in the archives.

I've tried to find as many posts as possible. If you have a post or know of one not included please let me know and we can add it.

So here are the links to Catholic Culture and here where the idea is presented and the instructions for making a paper house with doors that open.

The 4 REAL Parade of "O Antiphon" Houses
Just Another Day in Paradise
Cause of Our Joy
St. Athanasius Academy
Our Domestic Church
Memories of a Catholic Wife and Mother
And Now For Seven
Real Learning
By Sun and Candlelight
Lettres de mon Moulin
The Cabbage Patch
Gladdest Hours
Gratiae Ut Deus
Catholic Family Vignettes
Shower of Roses

Cool variations that aren't necessarily houses or projects with opening doors:
St. Francis Academy - ornaments
Maverick Mama - book display
Castle of the Immaculate - ornaments
O Night Divine - Alice's Jesse Tree blocks include O Antiphons
Under Her Starry Mantle-O Antiphon Poinsettia Wreath

Something else that I didn't manage to post before Christmas, but better late than never. Just consider it a really early prep for next year. I uploaded a simple template for a paper O Antiphon house as that is the idea that was originally suggested. It doesn't have to be elaborate, so anyone interested can use this template in the future for something simple.

Pattern for house- print this out on white paper.

Symbols to go behind doors (from Catholic Culture website) - print out on white paper. Cut out each symbol and glue onto appropriately labeled box of 1st pattern above. Color symbols if desired.

Pattern overlay- Use a heavier card stock in color of choice. Cut out three sides for doors and label with number (17-24) or O Antiphon name.
Glue this pattern so it covers the white pattern (make sure not to glue doors down). Trim upper corners to make house shape.

Bumping this - the O Antiphons start in a few days. Figure there are new members who might not have seen the houses. I added the template for a simple paper house last year (but too late to actually use in '07) in case anyone would like to use it and doesn't have time to do an elaborate wooden house.

Thank you so much for bumping this up and compiling the initial collection - I tried to do a search on my own recently and found a lot of dead links.

Not sure if I will get to the house this year - but we will do something with the ornaments.

I like some of the more unusual presentations - I recently had a book out of the library about making old books into other displays - scrapbooks - all kinds of things - it was so inspiring especially considering the bin of books we have for donation but can't seem to find a home for!!

Just adding our O Antiphon creation, it is not a house but a O Antiphon Poinsettia Wreath

Anne and MaryM, thanks for those ideas! We had our Catholic homeschool group gathering and both of the crafts were perfect!

Oh, it's lovely, Suzanne. Thanks for adding it here. And thanks for bumping the thread. With about 6 weeks until Advent this is a great itme to start thinking about doing some projects in advance to be ready.

I would like to humbly submit our O Antiphon House to the lovely parade.

I may still add the "Ero Cras" on either side of the star up top and I might change one of the blocks where I accidentally put the English title in front instead of the Latin. Oops! Ah, well, hopefully I'm the only one who notices these things. At least it is done and ready to use this Advent. (I actually started it last year after I saw all the wonderful ideas going around the blogs) If I have time I might add/fix what is needed.

Thank you to all the ladies that have inspired me with their fantastic and very creative ideas!

God bless!

It's a lovely addition, Kelly.

Anyone else who has an O Antiphon house that isn't included, please add it!

Anne posted a couple days ago about her O Antiphon Christmas Tree Ornaments at Under Her Starry Mantle. They are SO GORGEOUS!

Updated to add a couple more posts I ran across this week. You still have a few days until the O Antiphons start.

I have bought all my materials for doing an O Antiphon Box to take away with us on holiday so we can continue following our Advent plans while we are away.
We’ve been doing the Jesse tree and that will now lead into our O Antiphons. I’ll be trying to make it up tomorrow (a big ask I think) however if I don't get the time I now have everything I need for next year.
What I am wondering is, is there a couple of sites or links that someone could pass on to me for images.
There doesn't seem to be much variation, I love all the houses I've seen by the other Mum's, but was wondering if there were any different images around.
Does anyone have any ideas??
Thank you
God Bless
Chemai

These are all so beautiful! I was wondering if anyone has seen the wood houses in stores recently. I have been unable to find anything similar, even online.

Thanks,
Barb

I had already added it along with Kimberly's, on Monday - see above...

Would love to add any that aren't here. If anyone else has ones that aren't listed here, please let me know.

Kimberly sounded like she had just gotten her house at Michael's this year. I saw the smaller house (pictured in some of the versions) at Hobby Lobby just a few weeks ago.

I bought my house at Michael's this year, too.

I just had the idea of candles. I will get glass votive candle holders and paint the symbols on them. Each night we can light the appropriate candle will saying the O antiphon. I guess we can also light the previous days too. Off the my craft store later to see what I come up with!
