Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Oh yeah, that is such a GREAT tutorial!! I think I may be able to do it, we're going to try it this morning (now if you could just do a tutorial on reducing the spitting thing, maybe I could get through the process DRY and smelling like soap ??)! Thank you SO MUCH!!!

Well, here I am again with the baby wrapped . . . on my FRONT!!! We only struggled with getting the wrap over the baby once she was on my back. It kept going under her body. After about 1/2 hour she started squaking (that sound is so funny, you can tell she's irritated) and my back was hurting, and I was telling all of the kids to go do their school work (in that ever so controlled tone-as they were all giving advice--but no spotters), so we'll have to try again later! The pics are such a help though, I practiced the tie a couple of times w/o her on my back, so I think once this hurdle is overcome, she'll be on her way to the BACK!!!

Joelle, we must have been doing it at the same time!
Ok, my question is...my guy is a bit older (7.5m) and he wants his hands free. I couldn't figure out how to do the step (7th picture) where the right side goes over the right shoulder, left side over left shoulder, without his hands beeing wrapped. Any suggestions?
Something I'm fiding challenging is navigating all these yards of fabric...but I'm motivated!

Joelle and Noreen, it sounds like maybe you both need to get baby up a bit higher on your back. Like they could kiss your neck!

Noreen, if you want his hands free, try keeping his arms over your shoulders while you are wrapping (hangin' wit da posse    Sorry, couldn't resist! ) him, or just be sure to manuver each part under his arms. (for support be sure to tie him on initially just under his shoulders.) Also, a rucksack may be a better carry if he likes his hands free. We will do a rucksack turtorial this afternoon!

Another question, I am so sorry - I now get her on & the Moby pulled up over her back & tied on my chest. However, I cannot seem to get the ends up over my shoulder--I'm trying to "throw" them, then spread them over her bum, and I haven't been able to make it work. Is there a trick to getting that done? And does this get easier, I want to be able to do it so badly!? Though I can see I'd not be able to do it for Mass--Mass would be over before I finished wrapping her ! Thank you again for all of your advice in this department--Gianna thanks you too--well, she WILL, anyhow when I have this mastered :) !

Lisa,
I tried this today with my Moby for my very heavy 8 mo old. I loved it! She did too since she fell asleep I carried her that way through most of our homeschool group's play practice (where I am one of the directors so I needed my hands free). It is a little harder on my back I think since she is heavier (almost 23 lb) and her nose is not up on my neck, she sits lower, is this because of her weight or because the Moby is stretchy do you think? Anyway I think I will try her in it with her arms out like you said. I think she will like that better when she isn't going to fall asleep.

Jess, GREAT!!! I am so glad it worked for the two of you!   If you are going to carry her in your MOBY, at her weight, you will need to keep her up higher, tie the wrap a tad tighter initially, or tie it at your waist so that her weight is more evenly distributed.

OR, find a nice woven cotton at the fabric store that is no more than 30' wide, (or cut and hem if longer) and use that. A non-stretchy fabric will support her weight better. Of course you could also buy a new already made woven wrap.

All that said, I carried my 7th child, who has always been HUGE, in my MOBY until the day his sister was born, with no problems. I actually really like a MOBY for the back wrap cross carry. I prefer a woven wrap for the rucksack carry.

Lisbet, I tried the carry with the only piece of fabric I have long enough - it was actually far too long and thick and a nightmare! Do you think I could use a sheet to cut and sew together to make it longer - really reinforcing that join? There is no way I can buy any fabric right now, even £1 per metre stuff. I have to do it with what I have.

The tutorial was great :o) Your kitchen didn't look messy to me...

Thanks Lisa,
I tried it again at home with her in it a little tighter and it was more comfortable. I will try next time with her up higher. I am going to try to get some woven material to try to make one or maybe look for a discounted premade wrap too. Thanks again for doing this. It is so sweet of you to take the time so we can all benefit from your knowledge.
