Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi! My name is Betsie and I am a homeschooling mother of 6 (5 of my own and a German exchange student). I would like to start doing a state study with my 9yo boys and I am having a hard time finding books. My library's search mehtod brings up too many results or not any results! I am hoping to find some stuff like the "M is for Michigan" book, but all the states in one book. Is there anything like that? My focus right now is for them to learn the names and locations of the states and then later go back and do a more in depth study of each state. Any suggesstions would be greatly appreciated.

Blessings,
Betsie

A fun one is The Scrambled States of America. There is a game that goes with it, too, but we haven't tried that yet.

We use The United States of America: A State-by-State Guide, and my kids like it. Each page covers a different state, with the basic information, like bird, flower, statehood, etc.

Betsie
It doesn't answer your request for one book, but have you seen Elizabeth's geography book basket on her side bar? Maybe your library carries some, they look beautiful.

Betsie, I meant to answer last week - sorry. A book that I think might be right along the lines of what you are looking for is Lynne Cheney's Our 50 States. It does include all the states in one book. You can see samples of the pages at the Amazon site. Each page has the basic facts about the state as well as little known ones and fun illustrations for various facts. To me the tone is a lot like the Sleeping Bear Press series on the states that you mentioned because it is visually appealing and a collection of interesting details about each state.
